Haughton Place: Commercial Growth Hub
Enhancing Amenities and Boosting Economic Expansion: New 70-Acre Mixed-Use Development Haughton Place Offers Retail, Dining, Office, and More
(Haughton, LA) Haughton Place, a new 70-acre mixed-use commercial development, plans to become a significant economic driver for Haughton, Louisiana. Strategically located at the intersection of LA Highways 3227 and 157, the development led by Mark Sealy and a group of area investors aims to meet rising commercial demands driven by steady population growth and infrastructure improvements.
Flexible lot sizes ranging from one to twenty-five acres make Haughton Place ideal for businesses seeking prime commercial real estate with high visibility and easy access from the I-20 Haughton/Fillmore Exit .
“Haughton Place capitalizes on unmet demands in the area,” said Mark Sealy, President of Sealy Real Estate Services (SRES). “With the upcoming completion of additional highway improvements, recent community infrastructure additions, and residential growth, Haughton and its surrounding bedroom communities are set to attract retail, grocery, dining, and professional services. Haughton Place is designed to serve a rapidly growing rural area where residents currently travel long distances for essential goods and services.”
The project is expected to create jobs and dramatically increase the tax base for Haughton. State Representative Dodie Horton noted Haughton’s rapid growth and emphasized the importance of capital outlay dollars to support expansion. Former Mayor Kim Gaspard and current State Senator Adam Bass (District 36) were instrumental in pressing the project forward over the last few years.
Ongoing infrastructure improvements by the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LA DOTD) are intended to improve traffic flow, enhance business access, and reduce commute times. Phase 1, completed last fall, widened portions of Highway 157 and added a center turn lane. Phase 2, which includes rerouting Highway 3227, is planned to go to bid in March 2025, with construction following. Proximity to the new I-220 gate at Barksdale Air Force Base will further boost connectivity and convenience.
Haughton Place aligns with Mayor Hunter Timms’ vision for the town’s growth, focused on attracting new businesses, strengthening the local economy, and improving Haughton’s tax base. This development demonstrates its commitment to fostering Haughton’s economic growth while celebrating the town’s rich heritage.
As of January 2025, data shows that Haughton’s housing market remains strong, with a dramatic increase in home sales since 2021 that has since stabilized.
With Haughton’s housing market showing steady performance and residential growth on the rise, Haughton Place is set to become a pivotal hub for commercial activity, enhancing local amenities and fostering economic expansion.
